FlightGear is used all over the world by desktop flight simulator enthusiasts, for research in universities and for interactive exhibits in museums. FlightGear features more than 400 aircraft, a worldwide scenery database, a multi-player environment and detailed sky modelling. Imho even better than the Windows Flight Simulator. Takes a while to get aquainted with but it's worth the effort.

Driving Speed 2 is a free, high-quality racing game for your PC. Choose from four high powered V8 muscle cars and race against up to 11 computer controlled opponents on two touring car circuits. This game has realistic graphics, realistic car physics and performance, high-quality sound and AI. The latest version 2.0.11 includes championship mode with series events, prize money to purchase cars, purchase upgrades and handling, and pay for repairs. The game is now shareware and this is the last free version.

Cube 2: Sauerbraten is an open source 3D first person shooter featuring singleplayer botmatches and missions in a multitude of various maps. There is also a multiplayer option available. Much like the original CUBE, the aim of this game is fun, old school deathmatch gameplay and map/geometry editing in-game. If you love DOOM, PREY, or other FPS games like CALL OF DUTY, this one is for you.

Free Backgammon offers a beautiful 3D interface and various difficulty levels. It comes from the same software producer as Free Chess and features PC vs PC play, human against PC and human against human. Not as elaborate as GNU backgammon but userfriendly install and quick start.

Free Chess is a 3D simulator of the classic board game. Play alone against the computer, or go head to head with a local friend. Choose difficulty levels from beginner to grandmaster. Whether you're a novice to the game or a returning chess master, Free Chess is lightweight, downloads quickly, and provides players with the chance to brush up on the oldest strategy game around.
