Celestia is a free space-simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions. Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All movement in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit. Celestia comes with a large catalog of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecraft. If that's not enough, you can download dozens of easy to install add-ons with more objects.

Matrix Screen Saver

If you're a fan of the MATRIX trilogy, and you use Windows screen savers, you can add some groovy MATRIX flavor to your PC: just get yourself a copy of the MATRIX Screen Saver i found here. It uses the authentic Matrix font from the MATRIX movie, and plenty of configuration options are waiting for you, like speed, top text display, a mini slide show, favourite MP3 file autoplay, multiple monitor support and what not. The feature i find most alluring, however, is the adjustable 8-color rotation, which is not exactly authentic, but far more funky than a plain green one. Imho the best free matrix screen saver on the web!

Stellarium is a fantastic, free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope. Features a default catalogue of over 600,000 stars and extra catalogues with more than 210 million stars. It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.

Stickies is the electronic equivalent to those yellow note-stickers you find in most offices attached to monitors. There are a lot of sticky-programs around, but this one is imho the best. It has no superflous bells and whistles and focuses on the notes. However, it boasts a lot of useful, additional functionality in the management screen. Once on screen, stickies will remain where placed until closed, even through reboots. Stickies appearance can be customised; fonts, colours and buttons may be changed, and styles saved. Stickies can be resized. Stickies can store text or images. Stickies can snap to each other and to the sides of the screen to keep them neatly lined up, and so much more... If you look for a free sticky-program, try Stickies and your search might be over.

TV Browser
